Course Description

This course provides learners in the College of Education programs with strategies for academic success within the University of Phoenix adult learning model. Learners will apply written and oral communication principles to their roles as educators, examine research methods for finding and evaluating resources, and develop effective skills in collaboration and critical thinking in preparation for their program and workplace.

This graduate course is 3 weeks.

This course is not available for enrollment to residents of Arkansas, Connecticut, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and New York

Course Objectives

Week 1

  • List components and expectations of graduate programs.
  • Explore University Library and College of Education resources.
  • Analyze methods for conducting University Library and Internet searches.
  • Assess the value of University of Phoenix Learning Teams.

Week 2

  • Identify strategies and resources for written communication.
  • Identify strategies and resources for verbal communication.
  • Apply APA formatting in written communication.
  • Evaluate individual writing strengths and weaknesses.

Week 3

  • Plan and implement strategies for effective collaboration.
  • Analyze your own learning style and how it works within team dynamics.
