Course Description

In Statistics II, the second introductory statistics course, students use and analyze tests comparing more than two proportions, including the chi-square test, and more than two quantitative variables, including analysis of variance and regression. Students also interpret concepts of probability in the context of statistical distribution and sampling.

This undergraduate course is 5 weeks.

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe the assumptions and potential errors of inferential and descriptive statistics.
  • Evaluate the meaning and mechanisms of statistical significance.
  • Recommend appropriate inferential tests for a given set of data.

Notes

A prerequisite is required for this course. The purpose of a prerequisite is to ensure students have the knowledge and/or skills needed to be successful in the course. Students are required to provide proof of prerequisite during the enrollment/registration process. To meet to a course prerequisite requirement, a student must have successfully completed the prerequisite course at University of Phoenix, provide proof via transcript of completing a comparable course (at least 75% match) or higher level course with at least a grade of C at another institution or have a University of Phoenix approved Student Appeal on file with the University.

  • MTH/217 – Statistics I OR
  • one college-level statistics course, OR 
  • one college-level course that primarily included topics of central tendency and description of data
