CYB455 - Project Digital Forensics
Course Description
This project on Applied Digital Forensics combines and demonstrates the acquired knowledge and skills from preceding specified courses.
This undergraduate course is 5 weeks.

Course Objectives
Week 1
- Examine the different ways malware can get into a system and its impact on the system.
- Assess malware forensics tools and techniques to identify and extract malware from different systems.
- Perform static and dynamic malware analysis to analyze suspicious documents.
Week 2
- Analyze the roles of email systems, email clients, and email servers.
- Evaluate major types of email crimes.
- Examine the steps to investigate email crimes.
- Utilize email forensics tools to investigate potential email crimes.
Week 3
- Assess the need for mobile device and mobile app forensics.
- Examine the architectural layers of mobile device environments.
- Demonstrate how investigations can gather and utilize data stored and tracked by mobile devices and mobile apps.
Week 4
- Analyze the importance of forensic investigation reports.
- Evaluate the elements of a forensic investigation report.
- Create a forensic investigation report.
Week 5
- Review previous course material related to incident handling.
- Compare different versions of Linux operating systems.
Prerequisites
A prerequisite is required for this course. The purpose of a prerequisite is to ensure students have the knowledge and/or skills needed to be successful in the course. Students are required to take the courses in this bundle in the prescribed sequence to ensure the prerequisites are met.
